Russian “Turbo Polka” Band Russkaja Release Fun-as-Fuck Video for “Alive”

0

Fourth wave ska revival? Why the fuck not!

It’s been long enough since the ska craze of the late ’90s that the trend is bound to come back around again, right? What’s old is always new. Besides, Eastern Europe’s got a penchant for these kinds of bands already — in 2013 I witnessed a Bosnian group called Dubioza Kolektiv bring the fucking house down at Roskilde Festival in Denmark with their 1am festival-closing set.

Anyway: when Austrian “turbo polka” / ska band Russkaja release “Mare Mare” last month, Axl lamented the lack of an accompanying music video with super-trippy visuals like the band has released in the past. Now he can rest easy with this clip for new single “Alive,” and the rest of us can enjoy it, too, because it’s a ton of fun. How about that dub/dance break in the middle? Didn’t see that coming, but I’m into it. If you can’t dig this, kindly go back to The No Fun Club from whence you came.

Russkaja’s new album, Kosmopoliturbo, comes out August 4 on Napalm. Pre-order it here.
