Song Premiere: Itchy-O, “An Eagle Brought Me Honey”

itchy-oItchy-O are a 40+ member collective based in Denver, CO whose sexy, seductive and eye-catching video for “Gallow’s Disco” first brought the group of masked musicians, performers and provocateurs to our attention. Today we’re thrilled to premiere one of the band’s tracks, “An Eagle Brought Me Honey.”

“An Eagle Brought Me Honey” is propelled by pounding, almost tribal drumbeats that act as the engine that makes it go. Sure, there’s distorted guitars and bass carrying the melody, but all of that is almost secondary: it’s the beat, the groove, the rhythm, the feeling that this band is all about. Their live performances include Chinese line dancers, marching drum corps, an arsenal of electronics, theremin, vocoders, and and all sorts of other doo-dads, and are reportedly quite the spectacle. The Boredoms’ 77 Boadrum comes to mind as a reference point.

Check out the track below. From The Overflowing comes out September 8th via Alternative Tentacles; pre-order here. Follow the band on Facebook and check them out on tour (dates under the embed).
