The New Iron Maiden Comic Book Series Legacy of the Beast Looks Sick
I’m not as qualified to write about comics as, well, literally anyone else on the MetalSucks staff. But the MS Mansion is solely inhabited by yer Papa Vince today, so… you get me! Sorry if I make myself look like an idiot here (inb4 “you do that all the time anyway, Vince”).
According to a press release, Iron Maiden have now officially announced their Legacy of the Beast comic book series. As we learned a few weeks back, Iron Maiden are teaming up with the makers of the long-running Heavy Metal comic/magazine for the series, which will be based on the band’s mobile game and centers around Eddie, whose “immortal soul is shattered and strewn across the cosmos,” as he attempts to battle his way through the worlds depicted on various Maiden album covers. Sounds pretty neat!
Here’s what’s new in today’s release: the comic series will consist of five issues, is written by Llexi Leon and Ian Edginton, illustrated by Kevin J. West, Jason Gorder and Santi Casas, and the first issue goes on sale worldwide on October 11th, available for pre-order now (links below). We also get this description of its plot:
“The comic book series expands on the video game narrative. As dark forces conspire to corrupt the fabric of reality, Eddie’s immortal soul is shattered and strewn across the cosmos – leaving a weakened, primal Eddie to battle across space and time facing off against the twisted legions of The Beast, seeking out the lost shards of his soul, and bringing order to the realms. With each victory, and with the aid of old friends, Eddie will restore his fearsome powers as he draws ever closer to facing the Unholy foe behind his fall… and thwarting a plot to unravel all of Creation!”
Seems pretty neat, no? Like I said, I’m a dumb-dumb when it comes to comics… so you tell me.
