Mike Patton Involved in Accident, Last Night’s Dead Cross Show Canceled

UPDATE, 2:50pm EDT: Mike Patton wiped out on his skateboard en route to the venue. Read all about it here.

Original Post:

Dead Cross vocalist Mike Patton (also of Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, etc.) was involved in accident yesterday resulting in the cancelation of the band’s show last night in Los Angeles.

This isn’t the first time this Dead Cross tour has run into trouble: bassist Justin Pearson and guitarist Michael Crain were detained by police in Texas last week, although no shows were canceled as a result.

Multiple reports of Patton’s accident paint an incomplete picture with conflicting details, with Loudwire saying its nature is unknown while Blabbermouth claims he was “involved in an accident on his way to the venue” and Ultimate Guitar using the phrase “car accident.”

Whatever the cause, Patton was not in any shape to perform. After opening act Secret Chiefs 3 completed their set, Crain and drummer Dave Lombardo took to the stage to address the audience, with Crain saying:

“There’s been an accident. Mike was in an accident. It’s not grave, but he’s unable to be here tonight. He’s hurt. So I’m sorry. We apologize. We’re gonna reschedule. And tickets will be refunded at points of purchase.”

Lombardo added, “On behalf of the band, we’re really sorry,” before wishing Mike a speedy recovery.

Watch fan-filmed footage of Crain and Lombardo addressing the crowd below.

We’re sure more details about Patton’s accident will be made public soon. In the meantime, we, too, wish him a speedy recovery and that he’s able to get back up on stage to finish out the tour. We’re glad it wasn’t worse than it seems to be.
