Mudvayne Bassist’s Jazz Fusion Band Soften the Glare: Debut Album Streaming in Full

0

Before you jump on my case about the “jazz fusion” tag in this article’s headline being inaccurate with regards to Mudvayne bassist Ryan Martinie’s new(ish) band Soften the Glare, kindly just shut the fuck up. It’s close enough. The band is proggy and jazzy and rocky and kinda (sorta) metally, but one thing they are certainly not is Mudvayne, or anything like them.

Most importantly: they’re great. Martinie and co. — guitarist Bon Lozaga and drummer Mitch Hull — have been teasing music since February of 2016, so it’s a treat to finally hear their debut album in full. And oh hey look, Jamie King (of BTBAM fame) produced the effort! Martinie is a beast on the bass — we know that already — but Lozaga and Hull, with whom I was previously unfamiliar, are phenomenal musicians, too.

Making Faces comes out this Friday, September 1st, but you can stream it now below and order it via Bandcamp.
