Cannibal Corpse’s George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher is Riding out Hurricane Irma in an Elementary School Shelter

While some Floridians such as Trivium’s Matt Heafy chose to board up their houses, stock up on supplies and hunker down during Hurricane (now tropical storm) Irma, others opted for the safer route: heading to public shelters.

Cannibal Corpse vocalist George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher — who lives in Tampa, which took a direct hit from the storm (unlike Orlando) — decided not to take any chances and brought his family to a shelter at the Double Branch Elementary School in Wesley Chapel, FL, roughly 25 miles from downtown Tampa, to ride out the storm. A photo Fisher posted on Instagram last night shows him and his family in good spirits, throwing the horns while the hurricane raged outside.

While the idea of a man known as “Corpsegrinder” holed up in an elementary school is certainly chuckle-inducing, mostly we’re just glad he and his are OK. We continue to wish all the best to the rest of the metal community (and, well, everyone!) down in Florida.
