Track Premiere: The Kennedy Veil, “Godslaughter”

The Kennedy Veil - Imperium
In an alternate universe, The Kennedy Veil’s latest track title could be read as “Gods’ Laughter,” in which case the lyrics might be about Dio, Lemmy and Dimebag sitting up in the clouds and sharing a good chuckle with one another about all the great times they had as mortals. Perhaps it’d be a little southern rock ditty plucked out on an acoustic guitar.

Here on planet Earth in 2017, that is most certainly not the case. Not with lyrics about burning death, funeral dirges, whores of Christ being whipped and chained, and suffering at God’s temper. And not with riffs as punishing, drums as chaotic and vocals as devastating as these. Nope, this one is most certainly “God Slaughter,” not “Gods’ [or God’s] Laughter.” Oh well! The band confirms as much in a quick note about the track:

The opening lyric of “Godslaughter” simply states, “reclaim death.” To us, it is a statement of remaining true to what the genre was built from, while still bringing our own ideas of modern death metal into the fold. From blast beats to slow, heavy parts, “Godslaughter” has something that we think all fans of the genre can sink their teeth into.

All kidding aside, the track rips. And there’s a good chance you can hear The Kennedy Veil play it live on the Bloodletting North America tour this fall with Origin, Archspire, Defeated Sanity, Dyscarnate and Visceral Disgorge.
