Listen: Killswitch Engage’s Jesse Leach Covers Minor Threat’s “Salad Days”

It makes a lot of sense that Jesse Leach from Killswitch Engage, a metalcore band, would cover Minor Threat, a hardcore band. Still, I very much doubt fans will anticipate what Leach has done with Minor Threat’s “Salad Days.” Leach’s slowed down version, which is actually sixty seconds longer than the original, leans hard into Leach’s love of reggae. Whether you like it or not (I do), you can’t say Leach hasn’t made the song his own.

Check out Killswitch Engage’s Jesse Leach’s Minor Threat’s “Salad Days” below, courtesy of Revolver. I’ve put the original below that because why the heck not. Leach’s version will appear on Still Having Their Say, a 19-song compilation that acts as a companion to the new book xXx Fanzine (1983-1988) Hardcore & Punk in the Eighties. Pre-order the book and comp here. There are also gonna be two release shows for the book in Massachussetts next month; get those dates at the bottom of this post.
