Fall Out Boy’s Andy Hurley Plays Cannibal Corpse During Drum Solo at Live Shows

0

Though Fall Out Boy certainly aren’t known for their heaviness, drummer Andy Hurley has a long history with metal and hardcore. He teamed up with Anthrax’s Scott Ian and Every Time I Die’s Keith Buckley (among others) in The Damned Things, and he spent time behind the throne in Enabler and Earth Crisis… among others. Andy’s roots are in all things heavy, even if his current day job certainly isn’t.

Hurley has been laying out his affinity for metal for all to see — or at least those in the know — at Fall Out Boy’s recent live shows, incorporating a passage from Cannibal Corpse’s “Hammer Smashed Face” into his mid-show drum solo. His Damned Things bandmate Scott Ian captured the bit at last week’s show in Los Angeles, with fan-filmed footage of a longer section of the solo having made its way online as well. You can check both out below.

This isn’t the first time Fall Out Boy have incorporated metal into their live shows: in 2014 they used samples of Slayer’s “Reigning Blood,” and back in 2007 they performed Pantera’s “Walk.”

Keep it metal, Andy! \m/
