Suicide Silence Positive PR Train Keeps Rolling as Band Charges Fans $150 to Be a Roadie for the Day

Between the reaction to their self-titled album and recent allegations that frontman Eddie Hermida “emotionally and sexually manipulated” an underage girl, Suicide Silence’s 2017 was going just a little too well. They were sick of winning so much! Thus, they have cleverly tipped the scales in favor of the negative with what may appear to be, to the naive music industry amateur, one of the more ill-advised merch offerings in recent memory.

According to the band’s official merch site, the ‘Roadie for a Day’ Bundle, seven of which are available at each upcoming Suicide Silence show for $150 a pop, includes the following:

  • Work along side the crew during load in
  • Stand sidestage for Suicide Silence’s set
  • Enjoy a pre-show meal with the crew
  • Mingle with band during soundcheck
  • EXCLUSIVE SuiCrew T-shirt
  • Working crew laminate

In other words, this your standard VIP fan package, except instead of good seats, exclusive merch, and getting to hang out with the band for a few minutes before the show, you get good seats, exclusive merch, the possibility of kinda-sorta meeting the band when they’re not preoccupied with work, lousy food, and several hours spent lifting heavy things and taking orders.

We must applaud Suicide Silence. This Spın̈al Tap-level ridiculous ploy is a savvy way to ensure that they end 2017 on a low note, so other bands don’t become jealous of all the success they’ve been enjoying. Genius!
