Vermont’s Ghastly Sound did 2017 right. They began the year by releasing an awesome, self-titled EP, from which MetalSucks premiered a track; in the spring, they were announced as part of a metal tribute to Pink Floyd’s The Wall, alongside bands like the Melvins, Pallbearer, ASG, and Ruby the Hatchet; by the conclusion of the summer, bassist T.J. Maynard successfully lead the charge to have a white supremacist who participated in the Charlottesville rally fired Ryan Roy (above right) fired from local Uno pizzeria; and they will end the year with the release of another awesome EP, The Bottom… from which MetalSucks is now premiering a track!

And what a track it is! “Waves” fuses the barely-controlled chaos of classic Converge with the otherworldly, larger-than-life sonic vistas of the Deftones at their most melodious… and it does so expertly. “Waves” is the kind of song which is so goddamn catchy that after hearing it once, your choices are basically to either listen to it again or to have it so deeply embedded in your brain that you yearn for it like a junkie for smack. Just try not to listen to it at least twice in a row. Go ahead. We dare you.

Test your mettle against some truly excellent songwriting below. The Bottom comes out December 15 on Magnetic Eye Records. Pre-order it here for just five bucks!!! You’ll be glad you did.
