Just a day after Robb Flynn gifted us all with a poetry slam version of the song, Machine Head have now unveiled the official studio recording of the song “Bastards,” from their upcoming album Catharsis.

The folk-tinged protest anthem, you may recall, began life as an acoustic piece shortly after the election of President Stable Genius. When Vince and I spoke with Robb recently, he told us he’d never intended for the song to become a full-on Machine Head track, it just ended up evolving that way naturally during the Catharsis writing sessions. I can’t express how happy I am that this is the case — if you ask me, “Bastards” ended up being one of the best tracks on Catharsis.

Listen to the studio version of “Bastards” below. Catharsis comes out January 26th via Nuclear Blast; pre-order here. Get Machine Head’s upcoming “Evening With” tour dates here.
