Dead Empires’ “the Form” Will Give You the Most Pleasurable Seizure of Your Life

“The Form,” the new song from Dead Empires, is a terrific example of why MetalSucks loves this band so goddamn much. It’s angular and unpredictable, starting as a feedback loop punctuated by sniper shots of guitar screeches and exploding drums, morphing into a chugging locomotive of vitriol, then transforming into a soaring, cinematic, Mastodonian riff, and, after a brief interlude from an angelic chorus, finally settling on some mathcore-style chaos. This isn’t just schizophrenia for schizophrenia’s sake, though; impressively, each section of the song is better than the last.

Appropriately, given its ever-shifting nature, the accompanying video is the sort which you probably shouldn’t watch if you’re prone to seizures. For the rest of us, it’s a real mindfuck, and I mean that in the best possible way.

Check out “The Form” and its music video below. The track will appear on Dead Empires’ new album, Designed to Disappear, which comes out February 23 on Silent Pendulum. Pre-order it here.
