Dimmu Borgir Debut New Song “Interdimensional Summit”

As they vowed they would, today Dimmu Borgir have at last premiered “Interdimensional Summit,” the debut single from their new album, Eonian. It’s the first time the band has released new music in more than seven years.

Was it worth the wait? Just stating my own personal opinion with which you are of course always free to disagree, no. I do not like it. It’s not a poorly written song or anything — it has a decent, if not spectacular, hook — but substantial portions of it sound more like symphonic power metal or viking/folk/pirate metal than black metal, and that shit just ain’t my bag. It comes off as operatic in a cheesy way, not in a cool way. Honestly I don’t think I ever would have known it was Dimmu Borgir if it hadn’t been labeled.

I do really dig the guitar solo that begins around the 3:30 mark, though. That shit is fairly epic. So it’s not a wash!

And again, that’s just me! We encourage healthy intellectual disagreement and debate here at MetalSucks. So check out the track via the below music video and judge for thyself. Eonian comes out May 4 on Nuclear Blast. Pre-order it here.
