Six Feet Under’s Chris Barnes Believes Some of the Florida Shooting Survivors are “Crisis Actors”

Have you fuckers ever met Chris Barnes? He’s a weed-smoking Deadhead in flip-flops; he looks like he’s about to head over to happy hour at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. Even knowing that he wrote the lyrics for all those old Cannibal Corpse classics, sucker punched Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation, and made an ignorant crack intended to emasculate vegans/vegetarians, he really doesn’t read as an aggro dude. I would guess that given the choice between a gun and a hacky sack, Barnes would choose a nap.

Apparently I’m only sort of right, though! A MetalSucks reader sent us the below screen cap from Barnes’ Instagram account:

Barnes later made it clear that his position is all about integrity:

That would be upsetting, but as we’ve seen recently, it’s not an entirely uncommon position. Unfortunately, when responding to a follower who disagreed with his views, Barnes also outed himself as a right wing “deep state” conspiracy walnut:

Wow. Way to shame that dude for not knowing the material from which your lunatic’s hat is made. You showed him.

In case you’re not familiar with the whole “crisis actor” thing, this is the theory, peddled by upstanding American patriots like Alex Jones, that at least some of these mass shooting survivors are either actors hired by the left to try and help the anti-gun cause, or victims who have been coached by whatever left wing guru allegedly makes these kinds of decisions. In particular, David Hogg, a seventeen-year-old survivor of the latest shooting who has been especially vocal and articulate in his anti-gun arguments, has been accused of being a crisis actor because his father is a retired F.B.I. agent and, as we all know, the F.B.I. is an insidious organization that is out get to Donald Trump. Donald Trump Jr. likes this theory, so you know it’s legit.

But wait! Barnes wasn’t just gonna make an ice cream sundae and not put a cherry on top. So he went on to suggest that not only do we not need stricter gun control laws, but we don’t need better mental health care, either, because that’s just a deep state conspiracy, too:

I’m not even really sure how respond to that one. I was unaware that there’s been any dispute as to what constitutes the kind of mental illness that should render someone ineligible for the purchase of a gun. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised at this point, given how detached from reality American politics have become.

So there you have it. Luckily, this won’t hurt many people’s perception of Six Feet Under, because the general perception of Six Feet Under is already negative. But it will make it harder to listen to Cannibal Corpse albums like Tomb of the Mutilated and The Bleeding, and that’s a bummer.

At least we’ll always have this:
