Underoath Announce Reunion Tour

Underoath Announce Reunion TourMy social media feeds over the past few days — ever since Underoath were announced on the bill of Heavy Montreal — has made it very clear to me that the prospect of an Underoath reunion is very exciting to a whole lot of people.

I am not one of those people.

Underoath were only ever sort of on my peripheral radar mostly because for a large portion of their career they existed solely within the Christian metalcore bubble. While Christian kids in the heartland were listening to Underoath I was cranking Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall and the like. That’s in no way a judgment on Underoath’s music — they were definitely there in the very early days of metalcore — it’s just the nature of their place in the metal world, whether it’s fair or not.

Anyhoo, plenty of folks are understandably very excited about the reunion of a band that was important to their youth, so I’m sure today’s announcement of a full tour (on top of the previously announced festival appearance) will hit pretty hard. Dance Gavin Dance, Veil of Maya and Limbs will support. There’s a new track, too, and for what it’s worth I think it’s pretty good! It’ll come from the band’s new album Erase Me, out April 6th, and will come gifted to everyone who buys a ticket to the upcoming tour. Stream that underneath the tour dates.
