Video: Metallica Members Cover Celtic Frost as a Tribute to Martin Eric Ain

While recently performing in Celtic Frost’s native Switzerland, Metallica members Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo took the opportunity to perform a cover of the former band’s “Procreation (Of the Wicked)” as a tribute to the late Martin Eric Ain, who passed away in October. Honestly, it’s not that great of a performance; it kinda brings back memories of Vince and I trying to play whatever simple song on dual guitars with no drummer when we were kids. Although I’d guess this actually sounds a lot better than that did.

ANYWAY, I think we can all agree that in a case such as this, where they’re trying to pay homage to a fallen hero, it’s the thought that counts, not the spiffiness of the performance. Also, if even one person in attendance who wasn’t into Celtic Frost before went home and checked them out after seeing this, then it’s all worth it.
