Watch: Andrew W.K. Performed Live on Conan!

0

My first thought after pressing play on the video of Andrew W.K.’s performance on Conan last night was this: “Holy shit, Andrew has a EIGHT-PIECE band??” Given, it’s been a few years since I’ve seen him live, but damn, that’s gotta be expensive! Slipknot have nine dudes and at least four of them barely do anything audible! Mr. W.K. having three guitarists makes sense — “more of everything” is usually his motto — but sheesh, eight people!

Then once the chorus kicked in at all made sense: GANG VOCALS! Of course! No W.K. performance would truly be complete without them. It definitely caught me off guard, and I admit the effect was powerful and, frankly, perfect. You win this round, Wilkes-Krier (and most rounds, let’s be honest).

TBD if any of the fine folks up on stage are actually Steev Mike. Possibly even one of the three women in the band; that’d be the ultimate mind-fuck after years of Andrew W.K. conspiracy theories, wouldn’t it?

Shout out to guitarist Erik Payne (stage left) wearing an Obituary t-shirt.

Watch the performance below. “Music is Worth Living For” comes from Andrew W.K.’s new album You’re Not Alone, available here. He’s got a whole lot of upcoming tour dates which are posted underneath the embed.
