Watch Children Eat Satan (Or Something) in New NSFW Morbid Angel Video

0

Okay, semiotics majors, here’s a challenge for ya: what in the what is going on in Morbid Angel’s new, Nader Sadek-directed video for “Garden of Disdain”? There’s this demon thing… and it lets these kids feast on its flesh… and then the kids take a nap… and then it Hellraisers the kids… and then it takes a spaceship to another planet (or maybe it was always on the spaceship?), where it lets some adults feast on its flesh… then it leaves and that planet explodes… and then some other entity shows up and some other shit happens and it ends. Reading a statement by Sadek, it certainly seems like he had something more on his mind than just creating something violent/appropriately metal:

“My intention is to create a visual parallel to the song, a theme which repeats, yet within the loop-lay textures are controlled twists and turns. It was a bonus that I had the opportunity to use Sumerian iconography as well as obscure symbols of the pre-ancient past such as the Merkaba, a galaxy-roaming vessel.”

Yeah that’s not really helpful but okay.

Watch the video below and share your interpretation in the comments section. Be warned it’s NSFW for violence, some of which is against children, which I know can be extra-upsetting, even if, as is the case here, it looks about as realistic as the gore in your average Troma movie. “Garden of Disdain” appears on Morbid Angel’s most recent album, Kingdoms Disdained, which is out now. The band is on tour with Origin, Dreaming Dead, and Hate Storm Annihilation right now. Get dates here.
