Wayfarer’s New Album Will Take You To The Wild, Wild West

0

Imagine you’re a simple 19th century pioneer trekking through the barren wilderness of the old west. You find a place to settle for the night, indulging in the festivities and comaraderie of your caravan, when suddenly some dudes with guitars and amps begin to materialize out of nowhere. Are they aliens? Time travelers?

Nobody knows. All that is known for certain is that these shaggy fellas have a mission: to record the most intriguing black metal crossover venture of all time. All they need is a little help from some genuine country outlaws to make it happen.

The end result, Wayfarer’s World’s Blood, is indeed one of the more unique metal experiments I’ve come across. Black metal plus outlaw country works surprisingly well, perhaps due to both genres’ rather bleak dispositions. It’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly but with growls and blast beats.

Definitely take some time to give World’s Blood a listen — it’s strikingly immersive, almost cinematic. The record is available via Profound Lore and can be purchased on the band’s Bandcamp page. Stream the full album below, and if you’re anywhere near Jackson, WY, see if you can catch Wayfarer at Fire in the Mountains on July 1st for the authentic western experience. I’ll be there ;)
