Exclusive Song + Video Premiere: “Shed” by Coarse (Featuring Former Members of Old Wounds and Capsize)

Holy fuck, are we excited to share this one with with you.

Coarse is a new bicoastal project featuring Brandon Gallagher (ex-Old Wounds, drums/vocals/programming) and Ryan Knowles (ex-Capsize, guitars/vocals/programming), and as both its name and pedigree suggest, their sound isn’t the least bit relaxing. On their debut EP, I, the duo draw on influences from the worlds of hardcore, mathcore, and grind — The Dillinger Escape Plan, Buried Alive, Turmoil, Some Girls, etc. —  to music that’s angular, acidic, and anarchic. Exhibit A: “Shed,” the track we’re insanely stoked to be debuting here on MetalSucks today. Here is a song that feels authentically overcome with blinding rage and seething bloodlust. Shit feels like getting a Drano enema while in a flaming car wreck trapped in a laundry machine full of broken glass and set to tumble dry. Think early Norma Jean if the members of Norma Jean were feral.

In other words, it rules.

Do yourself a favor and check out “Shed” via the below video, which was created by Michael-Rex Carbonell! If you love the song (and you will), it can buy it for a buck on Coarse’s Bandcamp pagecomes out July 27 on Zegema Beach Recordings and Secret Nature. The gruesome twosome plan to tour this year and will hopefully release a full-length next year. Expect to hear LOTS more about them.
