Reverb reports that “457 guitarists gathered at the Sydney Guitar Festival” this past weekend to attempt to capture the Guinness World Record for “Largest Electric Guitar Ensemble” by all playing AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” simultaneously. Reverb also reports that they’ve never heard of Bob Dylan:

“… a title presently held by the 368 Indian guitarists who played Guns N’ Roses classic ‘Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door’ in unison back in 2013.”

Neat.

Meanwhile, Music Feeds provides some additional details that won’t make you facepalm:

“The performance — led by Australian band The Choirboys — was powered by mini batter-powered amplifiers on each performer.

“’They were tiny amps but they got the sound happening,’ festival spokeswoman Tatiana Marchant told AAP. ‘It was such a great atmosphere.’

“Money raised through registrations for the record attempt will be going to the Australian Children’s Music Foundation.”

Guinness apparently needs up to six weeks to verify that the record was broken. In the meantime, you can watch video of the blessed event below. It doesn’t sound anywhere near as cacophonous as you’d fear, and there’s some fun people watching to be had, too. Enjoy:
