A Storm of Light Release New Track “Short Term Feedback”

0

It’s been five years since A Storm of Light’s most recent full-length, Nations to Flames, a fairly lengthy hiatus in metal terms. Band mastermind Josh Graham deserves the break, though; he spent the previous two decades keeping busy in Battle of Mice, Red Sparowes and as Neurosis’ director of visuals, so some musical downtime was well deserved. Who wants a rushed album anyway? There’s certainly something to be said for the once-every-two-years release schedule that being a full-time musician necessitates, but that is clearly not Graham’s agenda here. Better to let the music take shape on its own time and release it when it’s good and ready.

So: A Storm of Light will return in October with new album Anthroscene, and Decibel has the premiere of its first single, “Short Term Feedback.” Fans of Neurosis-style post-metal will find a whole lot to like here: sprawling, atmospheric soundscapes anchored by fuzzed out guitars, bassist Domenic Seita and drummer B.J. Graves’ propulsive, almost tribal rhythm section, and Graham’s raspy, tortured vocals, all pulled together into a dynamic song full of peaks and valleys. In other words: it’s A Storm of Light! Check it out below.

Anthroscene comes out on October 5th, and pre-orders are live now via Translation Loss (US), Consoling Sounds (Europe) and Daymare (Japan).
