Silvertomb (Type O Negative, Agnostic Front) Announce U.S . Tour

0

Formed in wake of Type O Negative’s legacy, Silvertomb is the latest project from guitarist/vocalist Kenny Hickey (Type O Negative, Seventh Void), drummer Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative, Danzig), bassist Hank Hell (Seventh Void, Inhuman) plus New York City hardcore veteran Joseph James (Agnostic Front, Inhuman) on guitar and Aaron Joos (Awaken The Shadow, Empyreon) on keyboards, guitar, and backing vocals. Though their catalogue isn’t the most extensive (they’ve only released two songs since their formation last year), Silvertomb are going on tour with Life Of Agony, where attendees will surely get first exposure to a bunch of fantastic unreleased material.

Hickey describes the band’s sound as “heavy, dark and spiritual – like a dark gospel,” drawing from influences like Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd to create colossal sonic landscapes with looming undertones of doom and devastation. Bluesy riffage and soaring vocals complete the package, bringing an unparalleled fusion of emotions from which Silvertomb draw their name: “The name is simultaneously light and dark, and is coupled with imagery that harkens back to native and Egyptian mythologies where death was not feared, but embraced as a transformation.” Stream their newest single “Insomnia” below.

Our good friend and business partner Frank Godla from over at Metal Injection (and formerly of Meek is Murder and Empyreon) will be filling in on drums for the first four shows on the tour, so try to catch one of those dates if you’d like to see one of the founding fathers of online metal journalism drumming his heart out.
