Minsk Drop Apocalyptic New Track “The Chalice And The Dagger”
Chicago post-metallers Minsk are gearing up to release a gloomy split with Zatokrev, their first recorded effort since 2015’s The Crash & The Draw. The split, titled BIGOD, features two songs from each band, with special guest appearances on each other’s tracks.
Minsk’s first single from the album, “The Chalice And The Dagger,” presents everything we’d expect to hear from the group: melancholy, melodic vocals juxtaposed with a lingering sense of dread and fear. Slowly stacking elements to create a doomy progression of sound, the song creates an ethereal-yet-menacing soundscape from which it’s impossible to escape. The band explain that the track is an exposition of the paradoxical mysteries of life:
“‘The Chalice And The Dagger’ is a snapshot into the world of paradox. Life is a disgusting grind, yet our experience vibrates with ecstasy and potentiality. This song hopes to present the hymn of the out-lier; with the ragged beauty of navigating through the margins of existence. Interpretation is invalid without context, and this song hopes to touch on the uncharted, and the established. It sits within the entirety of BIGOD as one section of four, with all parts necessary to the whole.”
