Nita Strauss Releases New Single/Video “Our Most Desperate Hour” and Announces Debut Solo Album

0

Nita Strauss is best known for her work as Alice Cooper’s guitarist and in The Iron Maidens, the self-described “world’s only female tribute to Iron Maiden,” so it’s with extra excitement that I dig into her new solo track “Our Most Desperate Hour.” Nita is a phenomenally talented guitarist — I saw her shred live at one of those all-star cover jam shows in L.A. once — so I’m curious to hear where her head is at creatively when she’s not pounding out Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper jams.

Nita crowd-funded a whopping $165,000 for her debut solo album earlier this year and she’s just released its first single, “Our Most Desperate Hour,” along with a nifty, fire-filled music video. It’s no surprise that her solo material rips as much as you’d expect it to given her other work; “Our Most Desperate Hour” is considerably shreddier and decidedly more modern than either of her day job bands, an instrumental track that keeps the focus on tight songwriting (guitar-based hooks, anyone?) and even brings in a key modulation at the end for added emphasis. This is great stuff and I can’t wait to hear more.

Controlled Chaos comes out on November 16th via Sumerian Records; pre-order here. Catch Nita on tour with fellow shredder Angel Vivaldi this fall; dates underneath the embed.
