Slayer and Danzig Reportedly Beefing Again

Slayer and Danzig are reportedly beefing over an incident which took place at last weekend’s Force Fest 2018 in Teotihuacan, Mexico.

The two-day festival spread its impressive line-up, which included System of a Down, Alice in Chains, and Carcass, out of six stages. Unfortunately, the second day of the event, Sunday, October 7, was plagued by rains, leading to the cancellation of four major acts, all set for one of the two main stages: Rob Zombie, Lamb of God, Testament, and Exodus. As a result of these cancellations, several artists from other stages were re-scheduled to fill these gaps on the main stage.

Amongst those bumped was Danzig. Originally scheduled to play the third stage from 9:30 – 10:25 p.m., Glenn and company were moved over to the main stage to take Rob Zombie’s spot playing from 9 – 10:15 p.m. Slayer would then close out the show from 10:25 p.m. – midnight.

But then, abruptly, Danzig cancelled, too, reportedly also citing weather conditions as the reason for pulling out.

Now Bruce Miyaki, manager for Danzig’s Misfits bandmate, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, has taken to social media to call bullshit. In a since-deleted Facebook post (screen cap below), Miyaki alleged that Slayer “pull[ed] a power trip,” demanding that festival organizers let them go on early so they could leave sooner. Danzig, unable to play after Slayer due to his own travel arrangements, was therefore forced to cancel as well, according to Miyaki:

“Slayer pulled a total Dick move today !!! I’ve been a fan for 20+ years but when a band pulls a power trip and decide they want to play in Glenn [Danzig]’s slot and basically tell him play after us because we want to leave an hour early…. That’s FUCKING bullshit .. Glenn has a flight to catch tonight and can’t play an hour and a half later … Wow I lost all respect for those guys in Slayer…..#notcool”

This, of course, is not the first time Slayer and Danzig have had a conflict at a festival. In 2011, Danzig cancelled an appearance at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Texas at the last possible moment, allegedly because he was denied a bowl of French onion soup. Slayer, who played that event as scheduled, took the opportunity to throw shade at Danzig, posting a photo of two French onion soup cans on social media along with the caption “Great show tonight @FunFunFunFest got everything we needed.”

So anyway. It’ll be fun to see what happens the next time these two acts are booked on the same festival bill… assuming anyone is ever willing to take that gamble again.
