Marvelous 3 to Reunite for Live Appearance

Marvelous 3 to Reunite for Live AppearanceI saw Butch Walker perform live in New York last month and it was one of the most transcendent, captivating and inspiring shows I’ve seen in years. Butch is a class-A showman, a true rock star, a professional entertainer, a total ham and, of course, an incredible songwriter (he’s also a phenomenal guitar player, which I’d forgotten about). I left the show feeling amped up and high on life, and felt inspired to play guitar and write music for the first time in eons.

Butch’s post-Southgang / pre-solo career outfit, Marvelous 3 — you might remember the minor radio hit “Freak of the Weak” (embedded below) — are set to reunite next weekend for a guest appearance at the Talpanga Concert for Pancreatic Cancer, a two-day event (November 3rd and 4th) put on by Butch’s The Autumn Leaves Project, a foundation he founded in honor of his late father, Butch Walker Sr. Butch teased the Marvelous 3 reunion guest spot for Sunday, November 4th, in an Instagram post yesterday:

“So… remember the Sunday ‘special guest appearances’ i hinted at for @theautumnleavesproject TALPanga shows for pancreatic cancer on NOV 3-4 in Topanga Canyon (LA)? Hmmm… i wonder who it could be… SAT is sold out. We just opened up 60 final tickets to SUNDAY SHOW. Go get ‘em at www.ButchWalker.com/tour or click link in IG bio to be directed on ordering tickets. Have a MARVELOUS day, people… -BW”

That should be very exciting for the lucky few of you who were able to nab tickets in time! Or those of you who already had them. I’m not sure exactly how rare this reunion is — Wikipedia says Marvelous 3 have had “multiple single night reunions” since their dissolution in 2001 — but it’ll be quite an experience no matter what. Wish I could go!
