Aerosmith’s Joe Perry Collapsed After Performance, Rushed to Hospital

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry collapsed last night minutes after a guest appearance on stage with Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden. TMZ reports that paramedics worked on Perry for roughly 40 minutes at the venue, including inserting a tracheal tube down his throat, before taking him to the hospital. An eyewitness said that “Joe did not look good.”

In an update posted after the TMZ story’s initial publication, a source told the outlet that Perry has been having “breathing issues for the last few weeks and it came to a head last night,” and that the issue involves “congestion in the lungs.” He is still in the hospital but is awake, alert and is said to be doing much better, with the possibility of being released this afternoon.
