In Flames Release 22 Seconds of New Song “I Am Above” — and It Doesn’t Sound Terrible!

Is it wrong to assume at this point that new In Flames music will blow goats just as surely as the sun will rise each morning? It’s been well over a decade since they last made anything good (and some fans would surely argue it’s actually closer to two decades). But, hey, you never know. They could still have a Hardwired up their sleeve.

To wit: this 22-second tease of a new single, “I Am Above,” sounds promising! Obviously it’s impossible to know for sure until we hear the entire thing, but the brief video promises something hooky and, more surprisingly, heavy. Sure, we’ve thought the band was about to turn a corner in the past, with ultimately disappointing (if not eye roll-inducing) results. But previous promising teases never sounded this brutal.

We’ll find out one way or the other in just a couple of weeks — “I Am Above” comes out December 14. In the meantime, listen to this and see what you think:
