Baroness and Deafheaven Announce Co-Headlining Tour; Zeal & Ardor to Open

Baroness and Deafheaven have announced that they’ll hit the road together for a co-headlining trek beginning in March. Zeal & Ardor will provide support. That’s an interesting line-up! The three bands may not seem to have much in common on the surface, but I’d argue that a) none of them are purists when it comes to metal and b) they’ve all found at least some acclaim outside the metalsphere. In any case, I’d wager this tour is gonna do well.

Arguably just as exciting is the news that Baroness may have some new material for us to hear by the time this tour begins — the press release says that the tour announcement “arrives as Baroness work on their eagerly-awaited fifth album.” That’s pretty vague with regards to where they are in the process, but I don’t think they’d tease it in an official announcement unless they felt confident it was good time to be teasing.
