System of a Down, Tool, Meshuggah, Ghost, Gojira and More Booked for Chicago Open Air 2019There’s been a spate of U.S. festival announcements over the past few weeks with some old favorites returning (sometimes with new names) and some new festivals altogether. It’s a good time for heavy music festivals in the U.S. right now: there’s a ton of ’em.

Chicago Open Air just announced their 2019 lineup, and it’s one of the most impressive (and heaviest) yet: System of a Down and Tool will each headline one night of the two-day festival, with Meshuggah, The Prodigy, Ghost, Gojira, Beartooth, In This Moment, Code Orange, Fever 333, Knocked Loose, The Black Dahlia Murder, Vein and Alien Weaponry supporting. Out of all of those bands there are only two that would allow me a break to go eat or piss… not bad at all!

The festival will take place on May 18th and 19th at SeatGeek Stadium (formerly Toyota Park) in Bridgeview, IL, roughly ten miles southwest of downtown Chicago. Tickets on sale this Friday, December 14th, at the festival’s official website.
