Astronoid’s New Song is “A New Color” of Awesome

0

“A New Color” is one of my favorite songs on Astronoid’s self-titled new album, their sophomore release, and a bold step forward from their breakout debut Air. It’s also the album’s first track. I’d wondered whether its placement made me predisposed to liking it more — familiarity and all that — but thankfully vocalist/guitarist Brett Boland is here to tell us all that nope, it’s a fuckin’ banger, and there’s just something about it that feels right through and through:

“We knew ‘A New Color’ would open the record as soon as it was written. The mood of this album is much different than Air. This is the closest I’ve been to wearing my heart on my sleeve. It feels real and true. ‘A New Color’ was a pivotal point in the writing process that solidified the direction we wanted to move in and a perfect place to start.”

Astronoid will come out on February 1st via Blood Music; pre-order it here. Catch Astronoid on tour with Between the Buried and Me and TesseracT later this winter.
