Lamb of God Guitarist Mark Morton’s Solo Band Will Feature Members of Bad Wolves, Winds of Plague, Prong and Sons of Texas

Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton recently announced a tour in support of his upcoming solo album, Anesthetic. The album features a number of special guests — Chester Bennington sings on a track called “Cross Off” and both Randy Blythe and Alissa White-Gluz contribute to one called “The Truth is Dead” — but fans have been wondering who’d be tackling those vocals live and who would round out the rest of his band.

Morton just posted the lineup for his touring band on Twitter:

Mark Morales (vocals, Sons of Texas)
Doc Coyle (guitar, Bad Wolves, ex-God Forbid)
Nick Villarreal (bass, Sons of Texas)
Art Cruz (drums, Prong, Winds of Plague)

Cruz and Coyle, you may recall, both have history with Morton. Cruz filled in for Lamb of God on last summer’s tour while Chris Adler recovered from a motorcycle accident and Coyle filled in for Morton himself in Lamb of God when they opened for Metallica in 2009.

I’m not familiar with Mark Morales or Sons of Texas, but if Morton is tapping him to nail parts recorded by Bennington, Blythe and White-Gluz — as well as the other guests on the album: Testament’s Chuck Billy, Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age), Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge, Slash), Buckcherry’s Josh Todd, and Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach — then we can only assume he is quite a talented cat.

The tour is a limited run, but hopefully more dates will be posted soon. Light the Torch will co-headline and Moon Tooth will open. The routing so far:

03/13 Richmond, VA – The Broadberry
03/14 Philadelphia, PA – Underground Arts
03/15 Toronto, ON – Lee’s Palace
03/16 Montreal, QC – L’Astral
