Mötley Crüe Accuse Kiss of Thievery

Did Kiss steal the stage set from their currently-in-progress farewell tour from Mötley Crüe’s own farewell tour, which concluded in 2015? Mötley members Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx certainly seem to think so:

I didn’t see Mötley Crüe’s farewell tour and I will not see Kiss’ farewell tour, so I don’t feel qualified to weigh in as to whether or not Kiss are guilty as charged.

Having said that, I am a human being with eyes and ears and a brain, so I feel qualified to judge these accusations as moronic regardless or whether or not they’re accurate. My reasoning is as follows:

  1. After everything Mötley Crüe have stolen from Kiss, Kiss are entitled to steal some shit from Mötley Crüe.
  2. Did you just take credit for cranes?
  3. Dead bodies don’t stay warm for 3+ years. Shit, unless you take preservative measures, dead bodies don’t stay anything for 3+ years.

Thing is, I suspect Nikki and Tommy know all of this. Remember, kids, they’ve got a movie and new music coming out. Now is a keen time for them to stick in the public consciousness. If it was just Tommy, I’d say “Maybe it’s not that calculated,” because although Tommy is a killer glam metal musician, he will never be mistaken for a rocket scientist. But I give Nikki more credit. I mean, there are pages and pages of The Dirt devoted to how much thought this guy has put into the Crüe’s success over the years.

And, hey, lookit that, it worked! Here I am reminding you that the movie version of The Dirt hits Netflix on March 22. Whoopee!

Also, Kiss’ farewell tour is ongoing. Dates are here. Double whoopee!
