Spotlights Debut New Single; Announce Album Love and Decay

0

There are a number of bands that create music ethereal enough for me to feel like I’m floating in the air, and Spotlights’ new single, “The Age of Decay,” takes me to the clouds. The band’s newest track, “The Age of Decay,” is a juxtaposition of atmospheric sounds and dark, yet uplifting riffs, utilizing contrasting elements of shoegaze, doom and sludge.

I appreciate a song when it can take me for an emotional roller coaster, and although music is very much an individual experience, I like to believe it’s what the artist intended here. The sounds, riffs, and tones send you flying upwards while the vocals bring you back down in one fell swoop, achieving a dynamic and romantic harmony. Guitar player/singer Mario Quintero explains:

“’The Age of Decay’ encapsulates everything we do on this record. Musically, it has some of the heaviest moments as well as the most dynamic and melodic. It shows little bits of what we get into throughout the entire album in one track. Lyrically, it reflects on personal points in my and Sarah’s relationship, how things grew from when we met, moving around the country and chasing this thing together. The juxtaposition about love against this backdrop of a world that can be hard to deal with.”

The band’s next full-length album, Love & Decay, is set for release April 26th via Ipecac Recordings, and can be pre-ordered here with a bonus track and an instant digital download of “The Age of Decay.” Stream its first single below.
