New Idea Society (Members of Mutoid Man, Quicksand, Sumac) Stream New Song “Now is Here”

0

As someone who considers themselves a completist of all things related to Cave In I’m embarrassed to say I’d entirely missed New Idea Society until now. But here’s what I’ve learned: the collective has always revolved around core members Mike Law (Wild Arrows, Euclid) and Stephen Brodsky (Mutoid Man, Cave In, now Old Man Gloom), with Santos Mantano (Old Man Gloom), Andrew Schneider (famed producer of tons of awesome bands) and others having been involved at various points throughout the years.

Previous collaborator Alan Cage (Quicksand) returns on drums and Brian Cook (Russian Circles, Botch, Sumac) joins up on bass for the first time on a fresh New Idea Society song called “Now is Here,” one part of a two-song single which you can check out below. The track is an amalgamation of all of the band members’ inputs — you can hear each of their personalities shine through — but still sounds uniquely its own, on the chill side compared to most of the participants’ day job bands but still with moments of thunderous heaviness.

No info is available on a physical release for the two-song single via Sargent House, but the second track “Wave Goodbye” is expected to be released soon.
