Pig Destroyer Post New Song “The Cavalry”

0

Pig Destroyer become the second notable metal band to release a standalone single today, following Deafheaven (who did so this morning) with a brand new song called “The Cavalry.” It’s an absolute banger, much in the same vein as the hard-charging, groovy material on PD’s highly excellent 2018 album Head Cage, and it’s hard to imagine any reader of this site not loving it right away.

“The Cavalry” comes via Decibel Magazine‘s Flexi Series, the publication’s 100th such release, surely no coincidence knowing Decibel EIC Albert Mudrian’s longstanding love for the D.C.-based grind unit. Pig Destroyer guitarist Scott Hull explains:

“The music for ‘The Cavalry’ was written as an explicit tribute to [late Terrorizer/Napalm Death guitarist] Jesse Pintado during the month of August 2018, specifically after listening to Harmony Corruption and World Downfall on repeat. We are proud to give this track to our hermanos over at Decibel and finally contribute to the Flexi Series as the 100th entry.”

Jam it below and pick up Head Cage here if you somehow haven’t already. You can own “The Cavalry” on Flexi by purchasing the latest issue of Decibel here, but you better hurry because there’s a limited number available.
