Allegaeon’s New Song “Extremophiles (B)” is an Ode to Nuno Bettencourt

0

Knowing Allegaeon guitarist Greg Burgess’s personal tastes in metal, I can safely assume that the band’s newest song, “Extremophiles (B),” is a tribute to ’80s / ’90s funk metal slappers Extreme. As for the parenthetical letter in the title, could Mr. Burgess be honoring the numerous Side B smackers the band released throughout their career? “Stop the World,” “God isn’t Dead?,” “He-Man Woman Hater,” and “Hole Hearted” are all classics that appeared on the back ends of Extreme LPs! Indeed, Burgess channels quite a bit of Nuno Bettencourt’s high-flying guitar theatrics in this track’s scorching solo. So yeah, I’m just gonna say “Extremophiles (B)” is about Gary Cherone’s rockin’ hair. 100%, no doubt about it. No need to even ask Greg. He’s an Extremophile, I’m an Extremophile, and frankly, any of you who aren’t Extremophiles are missing out big time.
