Well, this is interesting!

During a recent appearance on comedian/Meshuggah love Bill Burr’s podcast, Primus frontman Les Claypool let it slip that his band will be handling the support slot on Slayer’s final-ever U.S. tour, which hasn’t even been announced yet!

Said Claypool (via The PRP):

“There’s another thing too that’s kind of a secret but maybe I can tell you now… So it looks like we’re confirmed, we’re gonna play the last, the very last run supporting Slayer’s very last tour—Primus is… It’s starting at Madison Square Garden and ending at The Forum, that’s the rumor.”

That routing would make sense — MSG is on one side of the country, The Forum is on the other, and The Forum is in Cali, where Slayer are from, so it’s easy to imagine them ending the tour there. The recruitment of Primus for the opening slot, on the other hand, is an unorthodox choice. Like I said: interesting!

Presumably we’ll have some official confirmation soon. While we wait, you can listen to the entire interview below. Claypool also shares some fun stories of buying weed from future Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett when they were in high school, if that further incentives you to hit “play.”
