Exclusive Track and Video Premiere: “The Devil You Know” by L.A. Guns

There are a lot of reasons to love L.A. Guns, not least of which is this: the diversity of their sound. Anchored by the blistering leads of Tracii Guns and the ageless vocals of Phil Lewis, L.A. Guns may have made their name with sleaze rock anthems like “Sex Action” and “Rip and Tear,” but over the years, their music has run a gamut of styles. By turns thrashy (“Killing Machine”), heavy (“Face Down”), poppy (“My Koo Ka Choo”), contemplative (“Over the Edge”), bittersweet (“Don’t Look at Me That Way”), downright depressing (“The Ballad”), trippy-hippie-dippie (“Long Time Dead”), L.A. Guns have never shied from tipping their toes in as many ponds as possible. It’s part of what makes them so much fun to listen to.

On their latest album, The Devil You Know, this breadth of influences is once again on full display. Just check out the contrast in the album’s singles alone!  “Stay Away” is a fairly traditional shake-your-money-maker, “Rage” is a snotty sing-along jam perfect for driving at unsafe speeds, and the title track, which we’re premiering on MetalSucks today, would make a certain quartet from Birmingham green (or is that Black?) with envy. It’s a killer track that you should check out whether you’re a longtime fan or a LAG n00b — and it’s got a sweet video to boot!

Says Mr. Tracii Guns himself of the song and video:

“We felt we needed something to bring us back to the ‘Hollywood Vampires’ spooky culture, and making a short horror film around one of our new songs made the most sense. This was especially fitting because of the heavy style of the song. I wanted a Rush working man vibe, but obviously there is a lot of Sabbath in there, too.”

Check out the title track from The Devil You Know below! The album comes out on Frontiers TOMORROW, March 29, but there’s still to pre-order it! You can get digital and physical editions of The Devil You Know here, autographed editions here, and colored vinyl editions here.

Also happening tomorrow: Tracii is running our Instagram account! Make sure you follow us so you don’t miss out!!!
