System of a Down’s Serj Tankian is Making a Documentary About His Music and Activism

System of a Down may not be working on new music, but that’s never stopped frontman Serj Tankian from other creative endeavors. In addition to a new solo release coming at some point, Serj is now working on a documentary about his music career and his work as an activist. Serj has a long history in activism, including his (and System’s) ongoing efforts to bring awareness to the Armenian genocide.

Tankian posted to Instagram, along with a very old photo of himself from Forever Young, his band in the early ’90s:

“We’re making a music documentary film about activism and my career so we’ve been looking for old recordings, photos, videos. Today’s #throwbackfriday comes from my first music gig as keyboardist for a band called Forever Young-sorry for the poor quality as it was taken from an old video. “

Serj is a fascinating individual and I certainly look forward to seeing this film. We will, of course, keep you updated.
