This Killswitch Engage Sign Language Interpreter’s Live Performance is Badass!

0

Last year a video of sign language interpreter Lindsay Rothschild-Cross giving every ounce of her being into translating Lamb of God lyrics during a show went viral, prompting frontman Randy Blythe to offer his praise and appreciation and even sparking a TV news report.

A similar situation has now unfolded with Killswitch Engage, as frontman Jesse Leach shared a fan-shot video on his Instagram over the weekend of a sign language interpreter putting everything she’s got into conveying not just the lyrics, but the emotion behind the band’s song “Strength of Mind.” Leach, who has been quite open about his struggles with mental illness, was particularly touched to see the song portrayed this way, offering:

“This moves me, seeing my lyrics especially these particular lyrics signed…. I am honored and at the moment overwhelmed. I hope this message reaches as many people as it can. Those who suffer from a mental illness, those who know all to well the extremes of the mind, the helplessness and the empowerment that can accompany all of it. It’s chaos, it’s beautiful it’s gut wrenching. AGAIN honored to see this! SHE IS KILLING IT!!! Thank you to this woman for helping spread the message of the music.”

We haven’t been able to confirm the interpreter’s name but will update this post as soon as we find out. The footage was originally shot by Daytona Beach, FL radio station 95.7 The Hog at the band’s performance on Friday, May 3rd at the Welcome to Rockville festival. Here are the lyrics in the clip:

“I’ve seen rock bottom and I’ve smashed my fists against it
Just keep telling yourself it will be alright
Who can raise you from the fall and save you? Only you
Who can take the pain away and change you? Only you

“Gather all your pain and suffering
Turn them into strength and weaponry
To overcome the enemy
That’s in you, that’s in you, that’s in you, that’s in you
Come face to face with a war that rages in you”

Killswitch Engage are on tour now with Parkway Drive. Remaining dates here. The band’s new album is in the finishing stages and will be released this year.
