Rejoice! For new Tool music is here… sort of.

The band, whose eagerly anticipated, forever-in-the-works new album is allegedly coming out this year for really real, hinted that they’d be debuting new music at this past weekend’s Welcome to Rockville festival… and debut new music they did indeed! The first track, “Descending,” is one they’ve been playing live since at least 2016, but this is the first time we’re hearing it with vocals; the second, “Invincible,” is the track from which that new riff Adam Jones recently teased originates.

So were they worth the wait? I listened to these fan-filmed videos for a minute because I couldn’t resist, but ultimately opted to wait for for a higher quality recording before I indulge. We’ve been waiting thirteen years for this, no reason to spoil it with a subpar version now.

If your will power isn’t as strong as mine, though, I do not blame you. You can check out multiple videos of the songs’ debuts below. Stay tuned for more official word on the entire album.
