Video Premiere: Masvidal, “Parasite”

0

Cynic leader Paul Masvidal’s solo EP, Mythical, comes out today. It’s the first of three planned EP releases, a “trio of conceptual mini-records” that use Isochronic tones, “a ‘brain-entrainment’ technology that is said to produce bio-chemical reactions in the body that increase serotonin, alleviate depression and stress, improve focus, and aid in restful sleep, similar to the effects of exposure to negative ions in nature.” Sounds like exactly something the introspective, charismatic Cynic vocalist and guitarist would do.

To celebrate the release of Mythical, Masvidal has granted MetalSucks an exclusive first look at the video for “Parasite,” an album track that’s equal parts gorgeous and depressing. Appropriately, the visualizer is both complex and simple in its presentation, taking natural landscapes that would ordinarily invoke calmness and serenity and staining them dark red, the hue of blood, loss and sadness. Have a look below as you let Masvidal’s haunting vocals guide you through the experience.

Mythical is out now via Paul’s own Masvidalien Records; order here.
