Chon Release “Pitch Dark” From Self-Titled Album Out Later This Week

0

Chon’s upcoming album, out this Friday, June 7th, is self-titled. Bands typically decide to self-title an album when they feel it’s a definitive work in their career, and doing so has become something of a bold statement. So far we’ve heard “Peace” and “Petal” from the album, and today we get a third P-monikered track called “Pitch Dark.” Based on these three jams, do we feel Chon’s self-titling flex is warranted?

I certainly don’t see why not! I’m not intimately familiar with Chon’s discography, but whenever I’ve checked in over the course of three album and two EPs I’ve been mighty impressed, and I’ve seen a band continually striving to improve their craft and refine their sound. What’s more, Chon are absolutely one of a kind: no one sounds like them and they sound like no one. So, here they are, three full-lengths into their career, enjoying more success than ever (even Kenny G. is a fan!) and going for that self-titled flex… fuck it, man, do it to it.

Chon comes out this Friday, June 7th, via Sumerian; pre-order here.
