Wear Your Wounds (Converge, Cave In, ex-Hatebreed, etc.) Release New Single “Shrinking Violet”

0

For those of you that might not be aware of Wear Your Wounds, the band started out as Converge vocalist Jacob Bannon’s solo project and has since developed into a formal line-up of Sean Martin (ex-Hatebreed, Twitching Tongues, ex-Kid Cudi), Adam McGrath (Cave In), Chris Maggio (ex-Trap Them), and Mike McKenzie (ex-The Red Chord). If that line-up doesn’t pique your interest, well, I can’t help you there.

The band has come out with a new single entitled “Shrinking Violet” off their upcoming album. Before I hit play I was expecting to get smacked with some chaotic metal in the same vein as Converge or [early] Cave In, but my ears were surprised and delighted with something unexpectedly different. The track is comprised of other-worldly atmospherics that at times explode into bits of anthemic and melancholic guitar riffs while Jacob softly sings, kinda like a male version of Chelsea Wolfe. I’m digging it. More of this, please.

The single comes off their new album, Rust On The Gates of Heaven, due for release on July 12th and available for pre-order here.
