Bad news/good news time.

The bad news: Machine Head bassist Jared MacEachern recently separated his shoulder in what I have to imagine was an incredibly painful mountain biking accident. Peep his x-ray and wince:

Machine Head’s Jared MacEachern Separated His Shoulder – But He’ll Be Okay in Time to Tour!

Now, the good news: MacEachern is relatively okay, the end result of his accident being that he needs to keep his arm in a sling for a few weeks — he didn’t break anything and he doesn’t need any surgery and, what a goddamn trooper!, he says he’s not even in much pain.

More selfishly for fans, MacEachern says he’ll be fully recovered in time for Machine Head’s upcoming Burn My Eyes anniversary tour. That trek already seems destined to be a landmark turning point for the band, as it will reunite three-fourths of the BME-era line-up to perform that album in its entirety AND introduce the band’s new members to play a separate, career-spanning set.

Read MacEachern’s statement below. Everyone here at MetalSucks wishes him a speedy recovery!

“Let me say first, I AM NOT MISSING TOUR. I had a mountain biking accident, and what you see in the x-ray is a level 3/5 shoulder separation in my left shoulder. No broken bones, I have little to no pain, and my fingers still work just fine. Best of all, NO SURGERY REQUIRED. My left arm is currently in a sling, so I cannot support a guitar on a strap. HOWEVER, in a few weeks I can sit and play, with full healing being complete before tour. I want to thank my wonderful, amazingly patient girlfriend @kt_lonewolf for taking care of me❤️! Leave me a “????????” in the comments for speedy healing! #oops#illbefine #xray
