Brutus Announce Fall 2019 North American Mini-Tour

0

I had high expectations for Brutus going into their performance at Hellfest in Clisson, France last Sunday, June 23rd. Their 2019 album Nest is amongst my favorites of the year but I had yet to see the band live, and on top of that I’d been hyping them up all weekend to my friends, who I insisted come with me to watch them live.

Thankfully their performance was AMAZING, and not only delivered on my own lofty hopes but made instant new fans out of my festival pals. Drummer/vocalist Stefanie Mannaerts sits with her kit facing the other two band members so when she rotates her head to sing she’s facing the audience, the perfect presentation for a drummer who sings. And when she sings, hoooo lord, she SINGS! Every bit as talented live as on record, which shouldn’t need to be a qualifier but sadly is these days, whatwith the preponderance of vocal-assist studio technology.

In any case, the performance was positively mesmerizing, and they’ll be bringing it to North American this fall for a brief run of dates in five major cities bookended by festival dates in New Orleans and Mexico City. Don’t miss these if you live anywhere near them.

10/25-27 New Orleans, LA – Voodoo Music + Arts Experience
11/05 Los Angeles, CA – The Echo
11/08 Austin, TX – Levitation
11/12 Somerville, MA – ONCE Ballroom
11/13 Brooklyn, NY – Saint Vitus
11/15 Philadelphia, PA – Milky Boy
11/17 Mexico City, MX – Corona Capital Festival
