periphery - alpha largeMetalSucks’ official 4.5 out of 5 horns review of Periphery’s double-album behemoth Juggernaut, written by our own David Lee Rothmund, was something of a conversation starter, to put it mildly. Comment reactions ranged from FUCK YOU FUCK THIS BAND to… well, that was actually the sentiment of about 95% of the comments. Newsflash: website that likes Periphery publishes review praising new album! Shocker of all shockers!

For those of you who haven’t made up your mind yet, here’s a stream of Alpha, the album’s first disc. On second thought, who am I kidding? Everyone’s already made up their mind about this album whether they’ve heard it yet or not. If you enjoy Periphery you’ll probably like it, and if you think they’re the worst thing to happen since the Mets traded for Mo Vaughn then you’ll probably dislike it intensely.

Either way, feel free to argue some more in our comments section! If you’re lucky, Misha himself might respond to you, as he’s been known to do ’round these parts before.

Juggernaut comes out January 27 on Sumerian; presumably a stream of the second disc, Omega, will follow in the not too distant future. Pre-order the albums here.
